Project Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in knitting or crocheting a scarf for SPECIAL OLYMPICS WISCONSIN as part of the 2012 Special Olympics USA Scarf Project!

Special Olympics Wisconsin will distribute their scarves for the following events:

  • 2012 Special Olympics Wisconsin State Winter Games in Wausau, WI - Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing and Snowboarding

Special Olympics Wisconsin’s goal is to collect approximately 600 scarves to provide our athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters a symbol of handmade unity.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS WISCONSIN HAS REACHED THEIR GOAL! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT - AND WE ENCOURAGE TO SEND ANY ADDITIONAL SCARVES TO PROGRAMS STILL TRYING TO REACH THEIR GOAL.

Deadline to receive scarves is January 20, 2012.

We ask that you follow the following guidelines to help maintain consistency and uniformity.

Colors:

Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red 0319

Red Heart Super Saver Soft Navy 0387

Red Heart Soft Navy 4604

Red Heart Soft Really Red 9925

PLEASE NOTE: You can choose to work with the Red Heart Super Saver or Red Heart Soft Yarns - or a combination of both - please just use both a red and a blue in your scarf design!

Length:

Your scarf should be between 54" and 60" long.

Please include fringe or other adornments within these measurements.

Width:

Approximately 6 inches wide

Special Instructions

  • Please place each scarf in an individual Ziploc bag for sanitary reasons.
  • Multiple scarves may then be shipped in the same box.
  • Please send via UPS, FedEx or United States Postal Service (USPS) to the address specified above.
  • Please include one 3x5 card with your name and mailing address clearly legible.
  • You may also include your email address if you would like to receive updates via email.
  • You are welcome to include a note of well wishes in the box with your scarf. However, due to privacy regulations, please do not include any contact information on the note and do not enclose inside the Ziploc bag with your scarf. For efficiency in receiving, please do not enclose the note in the Ziploc bag with the scarf, but place it separate in the box.
